A Reflection on Cease Striving and Know

Hello again! Hope you enjoyed yesterday’s post! 🙂

So today’s post is kinda related to MY REFLECTION – LOOKING BACK AT HOW IT ALL GOT STARTED. You can consider it as Part 2 of how my blog got started.

You probably remember my 1st ever article “Cease Striving and Know” that I published on my blog. Well, today is my reflection on what I’ve learnt during that part of my journey in life.

You probably recall the questions from ODJ that prompted me to share my experience. If not, here’s a reminder:

The article on 20th March 2016 “Beautiful Captivity” ended by challenging the readers to think of a situation that we desperately wanted to escape and how this situation might glorify God and eventually bring about joy.

Cease Striving 2

Here we go…

The health problem that I suffered for about 1 month was actually skin allergy due to dust mite! (I never had skin allergy before so this was very unexpected!)

During that time I visited 3 different doctors at my university’s medical centre. At one point, my skin allergy got so bad that one of the Dr. prescribed steroids for me (I even had to go through unwanted side-effects 😦 ) Anyways, I’m all good now! 🙂

I feel bad that my parents had to go through such a stressful time as well! On top of their usual workloads/commitments, they were busy cleaning, vacuuming the whole house and brought the mattress out into the sun to kill the dust mites (while I was still at uni)! So, I am super grateful and thankful to God for blessing me with such loving and caring parents! ❤ I couldn’t have asked for better parents! =)

Also, I’m very thankful to OCFers for all your encouragement when I posted my testimony on the fb group page. If it wasn’t for you guys, I don’t think I would have the courage to take the next step of faith when God asked me to share my testimony with the rest of the world!! So THANK YOU SO MUCH! ❤

Even though I was disappointed that I wasn’t able to join you guys at the OCF Easter Camp due to my sickness & 3 assignments! I was delighted to see OCFers from Curtin & Murdoch combining with us (UWA)! It felt like OCF Easter Camp came to me! =)

Amen! 🙂

And to everyone else for “Liking” my testimony on my profile, THANK YOU! 🙂

And of course, to all my prayer warriors out there, A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO YOU TOO! Thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to think about me and pray for me! I could feel God’s presence, His peace, comfort and strength as I go through those hard times! 🙂

Psalm 61:2

When God prompted me to share about His greatness in my life, my first reaction to God was like, “God, this is awkward for me. Do I really have to share this?? It’s quite personal!”

But I felt that the more I try to argue with God, the more restless I was. When I finally gave in to God and told Him, “Let your will be done!” I finally felt at peace. (Though a bit tired after waking up at 3am, I was very excited to start off my new blog! Even though I had no idea where/how to get it started, I’m thankful to whoever who invented Google (haha I should Google this right?), it pretty much answered all my questions about blogging!) =)

2 Corinthians 12:9

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.

I thank God (as crazy as it may sound) for allowing me to suffer with Him, (at that time it was leading up to Easter)! I feel that my faith has rise as I learn to depend more on God and trust that in His time everything will be beautiful!

Hardest Battles.jpg

Indeed, the song “Jesus Draw Me Ever Nearer” by Getty is so true! ( I included the song/video below, so check it out and sing along!) =)

May this journey bring a blessing,
May I rise on wings of faith;
And at the end of my heart’s testing,
With Your likeness let me wake.

Romans 8:28

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Blessing in disguise.jpg

Sometimes life’s challenges and difficult days are actually blessings in disguise. As we go through hard seasons, God can use them to mold and grow us. He told the exiles that He would “build them up and not tear them down” (Jeremiah 24:6). It wasn’t a time to weep, but one to rejoice. God took something meant for evil and turned it around for good. He does the same for you and me today! – Remi Oyedele

Some questions for my readers to think about:

  1. What’s your testimony/your story? (Doesn’t have to be dramatic, to have impact. God can use whatever situations, no matter how big or small for HIS GLORY!) 🙂 [Still stuck on ideas, you can check out: https://www.cru.org/train-and-grow/share-the-gospel/evangelism-principles/how-to-tell-your-story-worksheet.html]
  2. Where is your faith being called into action today?
  3. What has sometimes held you back from a bold step of faithful action?
  4. How can true faith help you move forward? 🙂

My Reflection – Looking Back at How it All Got Started

Wow! I can’t believe this blog has been up and running for exactly 1 month! 🙂

Some of you have been asking, “How did God inspired me to start off this blog?”

Well, I guess now is the perfect time to share about my blogging journey. (So, sit back, relax and grab your popcorn! hehe)

The idea of this blog actually came to me around 3am on Good Friday! I woke up, couldn’t go back to sleep so I decided to pray and read my daily devotion. Then, just like that the idea of creating my own blog came to mind.

Never have I thought of becoming a blogger. I’ve read a lot of good articles from other people’s blogs and I always admire their encouraging, inspirational and relevant articles! I’ve always asked myself, “Where do they get their inspirations from??” It’s only after writing my 1st article that I’ve learnt that everything comes from God, including the content for my blog! Praise God!!! =)

(The ideas just kept flowing, I’m like “God, pls slow down!” [quickly gets out of bed and started scribbling down the inspirations!])

The blog started out with only 2 tabs: “Home” and “About Me“! After reading more tips on WordPress on the”Beginner’s guide to writing your 1st blog” and getting inspirations from other people’s blog, this blog got to where it is today! (Who know’s what new section(s) will be added in the future? Well, only God knows! =) )

God qualifies the call.jpg

Yup, that includes you! 🙂

I’m not tech-savvy myself but I was (and still am) willing to let go and let God take the lead. 🙂 (haha I was wondering how do I invite people to follow my blog. But thanks to David Snape for being the 1st blogger to follow my blog, which led me to search up “How to add a widget” to make it easier for my readers to follow my blog)

So, if God has called you to do something, pls don’t give Him 101 reasons why you CAN’T DO IT! Don’t be like Moses (something I’ve learnt from BSF), giving God excuses why he wasn’t the best person to do the job of leading God’s people out of Egypt into the Promised Land!

“But Moses pleaded with the LORD, “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.” (Exodus 4:10 NLT)

Come on Moses, you were brought up in Egypt and probably received the BEST training at that time compared to everyone else!

One take-home lesson: know that God will prepare and equip you in advance to do His will!

The question is, “Are you ready to say YES to GOD and TRUST AND OBEY HIM???”

God's calling.jpg

Do you believe this? =)

During this blogging journey I have learnt to trust and obey God. When He gave me the idea of translating some of my articles into Chinese, I agreed with God that it was a good idea but asked Him to send the best person to do that job. And yes, God answered my prayer! =) If you haven’t read this post, then I invite you to check it out: https://journeyfaithhopelove07.wordpress.com/2016/04/05/good-news/

Tomorrow is Easter Sunday and it’s a day where we will celebrate the Resurrection of Christ after dying for 3 days! This shows us that Jesus Christ has overcome death! Therefore nothing is impossible or too difficult for Him! (Luke 1:37)

A special treat to my readers, you’ll get a surprise tomorrow! Just like how Mary Magdalene and the other Mary got a lovely surprise on Easter Sunday where they found out that Jesus was no longer dead! So come back tomorrow to check it out!! 🙂

Crown of Glory

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 The Meaning of Easter

If you have not yet received Jesus Christ as your personal saviour, it’s not too late to do so now! Just follow the simple 3 steps and you are saved!

  1. Pray – for God to change me so that I may:
  2. Submit to Jesus – as my ruler
  3.  Rely on Jesus – for forgiveness, for eternal life.

That’s what I love about God, He doesn’t expect us to be perfect or requires us to work hard in order to earn His love and the eternal life that He gives.

How to pray?? Don’t worry. It’s as simple as saying this prayer:

“Dear God, I know that I am not worthy to be accepted by you. I don’t deserve your gift of eternal life. I am guilty of rebelling against You and ignoring You. I need forgiveness. Thank You for sending Your Son to die for me that I may be forgiven. Thank You that He rose from the dead to give me new life. Please forgive me and change me, that I may live with Jesus as my ruler. Amen.”

(This prayer has been taken from 2 Ways to Live)

Or if you’ve been a Christian for a (long) while but want to renew your faith in God , He’s patiently and lovingly waiting for you to return to Him! All you have to do is to rededicate your life to Him, asking Him to be the Lord of your life and ask Him to forgive you for all that you’ve done wrong. You can also use the above prayer. 🙂

Still unsure whether Christianity is for you? Why don’t you check out Two Ways to Live at http://www.matthiasmedia.com.au/2wtl/ to decide for yourself.

Please get in touch if you have any questions/concerns. Or if you want more information! 🙂

As we prepare our hearts for Good Friday here’s The Power of the Cross by Keith & Kristyn Getty.

The Meaning of Easter

Easter long weekend is here! So what does Easter mean for you? To me it’s a great reminder that Jesus loves all these frail, doubting people, loves all these people just like me, and you. 🙂

If you have ever bought into the lie that you have to be perfect for Jesus to love you, or that you can’t have questions or doubts, or even be afraid for people to know that you’re a Christian, then this story of a man who shoulders the wood that killed him should end those.

Easter is about GRACE.

It’s about the fact that Jesus willing to die for us.

To die for people that would deny him, question him, doubt him, be angry at him, try to bury him, run from him.

That’s some crazy kind of love.

There will be those who don’t like this message, those who say, “But you have to do something to be saved, you have to live right.” I don’t believe that is the message of the cross.
I believe the message of the cross: ALL are welcome and JESUS has done it all.

His sacrifice, his act, his grace.
His bigness wrapped around our smallness.
His goodness overcoming all our darkness.
His arms carrying the weight of our mistakes so that we could unwrap the life he has for us.
His love touching all the places we thought were unlovable.

That is what love does.
Love offers itself in place of the one it loves. ❤

When Jesus hung on a cross to give us life, life and more life he knew exactly the type of people who is laying it all on the line for.
He knew because they were his friends, his companions, the ones with whom he chose to spend his last hours before his capture and the first after rising from the dead.

Jesus chose to give us life. All of us.
Those who give up?
People who no one notices?
Those with small faith?
Those who deny Jesus?

All welcome! All welcomed by the man who died on the cross and rose three days later so we could live with him forever. (*Gets Excited!!! :D)
